Black Lives Matter Is Not An Advertising Slogan!
I’m Will Roberts, and this is the Daily Scream! Ahhh, here we go!
Well, this weekend I did a lot of traveling and had the chance to stare at billboards and listen to the radio.
Oh, if you’re 20 years old and under you might want to look up the word radio on Google, moving on. I travel so much that I have become a connoisseur of advertising. Able to spot what’s real and what’s fake.
So, I had the radio on and an ad from the car company Mazda came on and their new slogan is “Driving matters”.
Then a mile down the road I see a billboard that says; “Your skin matters.”
Today I am looking through the news, and I see a story about the Staten Island Yankees and a day or promotion they are calling “Blue lives matter.” A take off from Black lives matter obviously.
Now I am going to dispute what matters and what doesn’t.
But I will ask the question of all you marketing people – What’s the matter with you folks!
Using a slogan or in this case, a moment to sell your products.
I know the big thing these days is what the Corporate America machine can do for the average American and it’s a very hot way to market. But we see through that.
Look at Honda and their campaign to help folks get things they need. Like the commercial about the woman who goes blind and all she wants is guitar lessons, so Honda gives her free lessons for a year.
Oh and we can’t forget the disclaimer at the end of the commercial that says the person on the Radio was a volunteer paid to be on the radio.
Paid… Volunteer, don’t let that definition near nonprofits … they’ll go broke.
Corporate America, stop trying to trick us.
Cause what really matters is that you have a good product, good customer service, and your product is made in the USA, cause THAT MATTERS!
